How to Make Highlights on Instagram

Instagram Highlights allow you to keep your favorite Stories on your profile, long after the usual 24-hour expiry period. This feature is perfect for showcasing your best moments, promoting events, or keeping important information easily accessible. Here’s how to create Instagram Highlights step by step.

Step 1: Open Your Instagram App

Start by opening the Instagram app on your mobile device. Make sure you are logged in to the account where you want to create the Highlights. If you need to switch accounts, tap on your profile picture in the bottom right corner, then select the desired account.

Step 2: Access Your Stories

Tap on your profile picture or avatar in the bottom right corner to go to your profile. Here, you will see a + button underneath the Story Highlights section if you have already created a Highlight, or a New button if not. Tap this button to start creating a new Highlight.

Step 3: Select the Stories for Your Highlight

In the next screen, you will see all the Stories you have published in the past. Select the Stories you want to include in your new Highlight by tapping on each one. A blue checkmark will appear on each selected Story. Choose as many as you need. After selecting, tap Next at the top right corner.

Step 4: Name Your Highlight

Now, give your Highlight a name. This will appear below the Highlight icon on your profile, so choose something descriptive and concise. You have a character limit of 15, so keep it brief. Type the name in the Title field.

Step 5: Edit the Cover

Tap on Edit Cover to choose the image that will represent this Highlight. You can select a specific frame from any of the Stories included in this Highlight. Or you can upload a custom image by tapping on the image gallery icon. Crop and position the image as needed. Tap Done when you are satisfied with your selection.

Step 6: Add the Highlight to Your Profile

Once everything is set, tap Add to finish creating the Highlight. It will now appear on your profile under the Story Highlights section. Repeat the above steps to create additional Highlights as needed.

Step 7: Managing Existing Highlights

To manage your existing Highlights, tap and hold on the Highlight cover. You’ll see options to Edit Highlight, Send to, Copy Highlight Link, or Delete Highlight. Choose Edit Highlight to add or remove Stories, change the cover, or rename the Highlight.
