How to Repost Reels on Instagram

Video The Easy Way advice has gotten complicated with all the outdated tips and platform changes flying around. Here’s what actually works in 2026.

Instagram still won’t give us a repost button. Annoying but whatever. Here’s how to do it anyway.

The Easy Way

See a Reel you like? Hit the paper airplane. “Add to Story.” Done.

It shows up as a sticker linking to the original. Not really a repost but gets the job done for sharing stuff you found.

The App Way

Download one of those repost apps. “Repost for Instagram” works. Copy the Reel link, paste it in the app, save the video, upload it yourself.

I’ve done this. It works. Just don’t be a jerk – tag the original creator. They made the thing.

The Lazy Way

Screen record it. Literally just record your screen while the Reel plays. Trim the edges after. Upload.

Quality sucks compared to the original. But sometimes you just need something quick.

Don’t Be That Person

Tag the creator. Always. Even if it’s “annoying” or “ruins the aesthetic” or whatever excuse people use.

They made it. You didn’t. Credit them.

Instagram can tell when stuff is stolen anyway. The original creator can report you and your repost goes poof.

When This Makes Sense

You run a curated account and sharing is the whole point. Cool.

A brand shared something from a customer. Makes sense to reshare.

You just want to look viral by stealing other people’s hits? That’s lame. Make your own stuff.
