Content Planning

Video The Planning Problem advice has gotten complicated with all the outdated tips and platform changes flying around. Here’s what actually works in 2026.

Spent months posting random videos wondering why nothing took off. Then I actually sat down and planned content for a week. Views tripled. Funny how that works.

The Planning Problem

Most creators post when they feel like it. Whatever idea pops into their head. No consistency, no theme, no strategy. I was that creator for way too long.

What Changed

I started batching. Pick one day to brainstorm 10-15 ideas. Pick another day to film 5-7 videos. Schedule them throughout the week. Suddenly I’m consistent.

Consistency matters more than perfection. The algorithm rewards regular posting way more than occasional brilliant posts.

Content Pillars

Pick 3-4 topics you’ll actually talk about. Stick to them. My channels do tutorials, quick tips, and behind-the-scenes. That’s it. Makes planning easier.

Random content confuses the algorithm and your audience. They don’t know what to expect from you.

The Hook Problem

First 3 seconds decide everything. I spend more time on my opening hook than on the rest of the video combined. Sounds excessive. It isn’t.

No one cares about your intro. Start with the payoff or a question. Get to the point immediately.

Simple Tools

I use a spreadsheet. Video idea, hook, filming date, post date. Nothing fancy. Trello works too. Pick something and actually use it.
