The 60-Second Script Formula for Short Videos

Video The 60-Second Framework advice has gotten complicated with all the outdated tips and platform changes flying around. Here’s what actually works in 2026.

Wrote out what I wanted to say, read it on camera, sounded robotic. Scripts need structure but not word-for-word reading.

The 60-Second Framework

Hook: 0-3 seconds. Stop the scroll, create curiosity.

Promise: 3-10 seconds. What they’ll learn or get from watching.

Content: 10-50 seconds. Deliver value. Keep it tight.

CTA: 50-60 seconds. What you want them to do next.

Writing for Speaking

Write like you talk. Read it out loud while writing. If it sounds weird spoken, rewrite it.

Short sentences. Incomplete thoughts work. Conversational beats formal every time.

Bullet Points Over Scripts

Know your main points but don’t memorize exact words. Bullet points keep you on track while sounding natural. Memorized scripts sound memorized.

The Value Per Second Rule

Every second needs to earn its place. If you can cut a line without losing meaning, cut it. Shorter is almost always better.

Rewrites Are Normal

First draft is never the final version. Read it, time it, trim the fat. Most scripts get cut by 30% between first and final draft.

Practice Delivery

Energy matters as much as words. Practice out loud. Record yourself, watch it back, adjust. The script is just the foundation – delivery brings it to life.
